(Archyde.com) – Discount shoppers bought more Pokemon cards, TVs and air fryers on Cyber Monday (Digital Monday), data from Adobe (NASDAQ:) Analytics showed, bringing sales to 11.3 billion, the biggest day of online shopping. in US history.

According to Adobe Analytics data, which measures e-commerce performance by analyzing purchases at 85 percent of the 100 largest online retailers in the United States, sales not adjusted for inflation rose 5.8 percent.

And while retailers began offering promotions and discounts as early as October to entice buyers, shoppers, largely weary of inflation, postponed shopping to holidays such as Black Friday and Digital Monday in hopes of winning the best deals.

Major retailers, such as Target (NYSE: ), Macy’s and Best Buy, have indicated that there is a return to pre-pandemic shopping patterns and that there is a need to offer greater discounts during traditional one-day shopping events.

And according to the Adobe Analytics report, children’s games were the most popular on Digital Monday, Cyber Monday or Cyber Monday, as their online sales increased about eight times compared to an average day in October 2022.

Sales of electronic devices rose nearly five times, while sports equipment, sports equipment and books also witnessed increases of more than 400 percent.

The report added that Pokemon cards, Hot Wheels, PlayStation 5s, smart TV screens, and Apple (NASDAQ:) AirPods are among the best sellers.

Shopify, which provides online payment services, said on Tuesday that merchants using its platform recorded record sales of $7.5 billion globally from Black Friday through Digital Monday.

Some experts believe that improving sales on Digital Monday is not evidence that the burden of inflation is lessening its impact on consumer confidence.

“Online shopping is still only about 15 percent of total retail sales. So it’s not necessarily a great indicator of the overall health of the economy,” said Dan North, chief economist at Allianz (TADAWUL:) Trade North America.
