Digitalos 2023: These are the finalists

In the past few weeks, the Oberösterreichische Nachrichten editorial team has received more than 60 applications for the country’s largest digital prize: from start-ups, established entrepreneurs to innovative ideas from clubs, groups and institutions.

At the Digitalos 2023 and the big gala in the Linzer Tabakfabrik on November 16th (7:30 p.m.), Upper Austria’s digital pioneers will be brought in front of the curtain and on stage. The quality of the submissions was very high and did not make it easy for the digital experts from the JKU and the jury chairman Sepp Hochreiter, a pioneer in artificial intelligence, to make a pre-selection. On this page you can see the 20 candidates who made it to the final selection – in four different categories. Categories five and six, those for the Special Digitalia Prize and for Digital Pioneering Achievement (Lifetime Achievement), are awarded directly by the jury.

Now the favorites have to pass a second test. Because now it’s the jury’s turn: OÖN and its partners Sparkasse Oberösterreich, Tabakfabrik Linz, KPMG, City of Linz, Wiener Städtische and State of Upper Austria will choose the winners of the fifth edition of the digital. The winners will be chosen from the five nominees in the main categories of digital start-ups, digital transformation and digital project. The winner in the Digital Personality category was determined by audience voting on nachrichten.at. All winners will be honored at the Digitalos Gala on November 16th in the Linzer Tabakfabrik.

Digitale Start-ups

Ohana, St. Georgen/Gusen: Christian Orgler’s team helps parents to raise their children safely in the digital world. Daily screen time can be limited using an app.

Surface SolutionsWels: Rainer Gruber’s goal is to change processes in the surface industry and to network more quickly between coaters and metal workers.

TriplyLinz: The platform of the Linz start-up (founder Sebastian Tanzer) makes it possible to measure complex mobility data and evaluate it for companies.

MatheArena, Hohenzell: “Mathematics can be fun”: This is the credo of Eva-Maria and Gerald Infanger. With their app, young people can learn mathematics in a playful way.

TSLearningLinz: Harald Leimer has developed a platform with which companies can train and instruct their employees on occupational safety.

Digital personality

Cookiteasy, Freistadt: Simone Kemptner shows healthy recipes to cook on her blog and several social media platforms. The Mühlviertler is also active in online marketing.

Leslie Hunter, Walding: Leslie Jäger is a speaker and trainer. With her podcast “Mutpropaganda” she wants to make a contribution to personal development.

MenomioLinz: Educate, break taboos: This is what Daniela Ullrich wants to do with her podcast “Menomio”. Women should be encouraged to see menopause as a happy time.

Ancient knowledge, Steyr: Plants and Nature is discussed by Adelheid Brunner on YouTube and Facebook. The biologist is keen to treat nature more carefully.

Anja Pauli, Linz: It was only this year that Anja Pauli from Linz dared to take the step into self-employment. With her agency, she advises companies on social media marketing.

Digital Transformation

Speaker automation, Linz: Digitalization plays an important role for company boss Erwin Raffeiner, especially when it comes to power supply. Speaker Automation sees itself as a thought leader here.

WintersteigerRied im Innkreis: rental software for ski service, foot scanners, networked machines: digitalization drives the Innviertler machine manufacturer (boss Florestan von Boxberg).

Seed cultivation Linz, Leonding: With the Herkules project, Saatbau Linz (managing director Josef Fraundorfer) is making itself fit for the future. Webinars and platforms are offered.

ClickandlearnLinz: Founded in 1998, Clickandlearn (co-founder Renate Mitter) has developed into a full-service provider in the field of e-learning for companies.

Market town of Kremsmünster: According to head of office Reinhard Haider, Kremsmünster is one of the most digital communities. Sessions are broadcast live and there are online consultation hours.

Digital project

QaptureLinz: The start-up led by co-founder Daniel Höller transforms objects and environments into precise digital models, such as the new parliament building in Vienna.

FiveSquare, Linz: An alternative to the ChatGPT program: This is what the team around Hans-Peter Pichler wants to offer. The Karli project is intended to relieve employees and create new products.

FH OÖ DigiSpaceSteyr: With the DigiSpace on the Steyr campus, Klaus Arthofer wants to make digitalization tangible and tangible for students, researchers and companies.
