Dikembe Mutombo is dead

The Congolese basketball legend was diagnosed with a brain tumor two years ago. The former NBA player was undergoing treatment in Atlanta. In recent years, he has devoted his attention to helping others. The NBA was very committed to helping its legend and his family. It is also an expression of gratitude. Mutombo, using his position and help from the NBA, built many educational institutions in Africa, as well as a hospital in Kinshasa, where he receives treatment regardless of health insurance.

Mutombo played eighteen seasons in the NBA with the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. In 2001, he achieved his greatest team success by playing in the NBA Finals, but failed to win the title.

His average statistics from 1996 games were 9.8 points, 10.3 rebounds and a whopping 2.8 blocks. In his best season (1995/96), Dikembe recorded as many as 4.5 blocks per match.
