Coldsnap, the Nespresso of ice creams

It looks like a big coffee machine, but it’s actually an ice cream machine. Coldsnap can even make non-dairy frozen desserts, frozen protein shakes, Lattes or drinks with a touch of alcohol. All this from a simple can at room temperature.

Slipped into the hatch, the can has a QR Code at the top which will be read by the machine. The system will thus understand what it must prepare. And in particular at what temperature he must suddenly cool everything so that the liquid contained in the can becomes ice cream. There is nothing else to add to the contents which will be mixed, frozen and finally ready to be poured into a jar.

Invoxia Minitailz, the AI collar that tracks your pet

Specialist in trackers of all kinds, Invoxia improves its range for pets with Minitailz. After the Smart Collar unveiled last year at CES, Minitailz wants to go further in surveillance with the help of artificial intelligence. And above all it is less bulky and much lighter (37 g). Which allows Invoxia to offer this module to hang on the collar of cats and dogs.

This portable device will track your pet’s daily movements, thanks to the onboard GPS and its multiple constants monitored by AI. The data is then compiled into an application. You will know what your pet has done, how many times he has eaten or drunk, and done some activity. With Invoxia Minitailz, it is also possible to know how many times you have stroked it.

Thanks to its biometric technology, in addition to the various health concerns identified and reported by the application, this intelligent tracker can also detect atrial fibrillation. A world first to prevent heart disease in dogs in particular, for which the device is primarily intended.

Price: 99 euros – Subscription in addition at 8.30 euros/month (12 months at 129.95 euros or 24 months at 199.95 euros). Available from January 8 in a version for dogs, in March 2024 for cats.

A mirror to take care of your mental health

Baracoda refines its connected mirror technology. The French startup presented in Las Vegas BMind, a new version of its product which changes design and orientation. Now round, this mirror retains its original use and integrates a mini connected tablet behind its glass which can be navigated using a few gesture commands (thumbs up, thumbs down, to the right, left, etc.) and voice control. The mirror, which takes advantage of the CareOS platform, will make it possible to obtain a lot of information.

But BMind is mainly interested in our mental health. For this, Baracoda has equipped it with artificial intelligence capable of responding to your mental state. By talking with you, the mirror will then display advice to boost your morale and improve your well-being (do meditation, look at cat photos, enjoy an immersive sound or visual experience, etc.). Because generative AI recognizes and understands your mood, your stress level or your fatigue by listening to you. It has been trained to understand natural language to adjust its proposal to your response, however worded it may be.

BMind is considered a connected health product, but not a medical device, explains Baracoda, which seeks above all to integrate awareness of one’s state of fitness into everyday objects and improve it. The French company is not seeking to market it alone, but to rely on renowned partners to adapt and adopt it.

Molluscs connected to check water quality

Among the first innovations unearthed at CES 2024, Ontbo caught the attention of Anthony Morel. This company specializes in emotional artificial intelligence. Its objective is to capture a person’s emotions and analyze them in real time.

It is then possible to use this information to generate concrete actions. Cameras could examine consumer reactions to products on the shelves. Placed in a car, the technology would be able to determine a driver’s fatigue level. Finally, a television could choose a program according to the mood of the viewer.

Another innovation presented at CES, the first connected molluscs. The Molluscan-eye company has developed oysters and mussels incorporating sensors. Once in a park, they can monitor water quality. In the event of industrial pollution or risk of food poisoning, these connected objects send alerts to avoid their consumption and thus avoid illness.

CES 2024 starts with its feet in the water

Two days before the official opening of the major Las Vegas tech show, Eureka Park, one of the two main sites of the event located at the Venetian Hotel, found itself underwater, Sunday January 7, in the afternoon.

While the teams from the various exhibitors were busy setting up the stands, a truck hit a pipe causing a huge water leak from the ceiling. It could be the hydrant of a fire-fighting system which, if touched, would then have triggered, putting level 1 of the Sands Expo under hundreds of liters of water.

For more than 30 minutes, water continued to pour onto the carpet, with hotel staff unable to turn off the drain. More than a dozen stands were affected and damaged by water. The Tech&Co platform which was located near the accident area had to be partly evacuated to clean up the damage and check the electrical installations.

What should we expect from the 2024 edition of the show?

From January 9 to 12, many products will be revealed. Among the innovations proposed, many integrate artificial intelligence.

CES 2024 is the first edition of the show since the explosion of the ChatGTP phenomenon. Although OpenAI’s conversational robot appeared in December 2022, it was not until 2023 that it experienced resounding growth.

Unsurprisingly, tech specialists have taken advantage of this technology to develop the products presented at CES.

The Tech&Co editorial team summarizes the challenges of the 2024 edition of the show here.
