Direct – War in Ukraine: Ukraine announces the opening of an office of the International Criminal Court in kyiv

Ukraine has ordered the mandatory evacuation of vulnerable families and residents from Kupyansk and adjacent northeast territories amid fears that Russian forces will retake the town, reports The Guardian and the BBC. Before the war, the city had about 25,000 inhabitants. The military said 812 children are currently registered in Kupyansk and the surrounding district, as well as 724 people with disabilities.

The town of Bakhmout, epicenter of the fighting in eastern Ukraine, is “virtually surrounded” by Russian forces, the boss of the paramilitary group Wagner said on Friday. “There’s only one road left” to get out, Yevgeny Prigozhin said in a video posted on Telegram by his press service. Prigozhin asked President Volodymyr Zelensky to order the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops.

On the diplomatic level, the American president received this Friday the German chancellor Olaf Scholz. Together, they assured that they will support Ukraine “as long as necessary”.
