Director The Nun 2 Michael Chaves admitted to making changes after doing so test screening. Audiences, said Chaves, craved more violent scenes after watching the sequel to The Nun.
This input then made him change The Nun to be even more terrifying (gories) to fulfill the wishes of the audience.
“They (the audience test screening) wants more violence,” Chaves was reported as saying Entertainment Weekly some time ago.
“Even though there are already violent and bloody scenes in the film, they want more,” he said.
He then detailed how the production team worked to add sadism to the film so that it became a more brutal and bloody version that the audience wanted. test screening.
Chaves also stated that his team really accepted the wishes of horror fans even though it made them work extra.
“We did a little extra photography and improved it. It just shows how the audience is always changing and evolving. Even in the earliest versions, it was more [kekerasan] than the one in the movie ‘Conjuring,'” he said.
“I think horror audiences have gone through this journey, this horror renaissance where they’ve seen a lot of horror films and seen a lot of violence. That’s something they want more of and we’re happy to provide that,” he continued.
The Nun 2 tells the story four years after the Carta Monastery tragedy. Sister Irene (Taissa Farmiga), who managed to survive, chose to continue her work at a convent in France.
Meanwhile, in a small town in the interior of France, Maurice alias Frenchie (Jonas Bloquet), also continues his life after surviving with Sister Irene and Father Burke from the terror of Valak.
However, this peaceful life did not last long when Irene was again asked for help from the Vatican to investigate a series of strange cases in Europe. This case also brought Sister Irene back together with Valak, her trauma from the past.
The Nun 2 is the third film by Michael Chaves in The Conjuring universe. He previously directed The Curse of La Llorona (2019) and The Conjuring 3: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021).
The sequel to The Nun has been showing in Indonesian cinemas since September 6.
