Luc Henry, pigeon fancier in Paifve, entered 87 pigeons in the competition, 36 returned. According to him, the competition has completely been distorted and “the pigeons didn’t have the chance to express themselves properly”.
Roland Canionpigeon fancier too but on the side of Wanze, found his pigeon exhausted. He denounces the competition: “If a pigeon is folded down by the rain in a champs of wheat and he can’t find a route to take off once more, it’s over”.
The pigeons presumably encountered a line ofstorm at regarding thirty kilometers from the start, which them disoriented and tired. Francine Lageot, organizer of the competition, apologizes on behalf of the committee of the independent Liège: “it is true that the competition did not go well for different reasons. I apologize and I hope that all the days of the pigeons will be able to go home”.
Following this disaster, the Federation Belgian pigeon fancier met on Monday followingnoon, to examine how to avoid this kind of problems.
