Disclosure of 9 side effects of the first American drug approved for the treatment of breast cancer .. and the “Food and Drug Administration” commented

Al-Marsad Newspaper: The Professor of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, at King Saud University Ibrahim Al-Sara, has listed regarding 9 most common side effects of those taking the drug ENHERTU, which is currently submitted for registration, for the treatment of patients with breast cancer subtype HER2.

And “Al-Asraa” explained that these side effects are as follows: nausea, fatigue, alopecia, vomiting, constipation, decreased appetite, muscle and bone pain, and diarrhea. The prescribing information also includes an important warning to health care providers regarding the risks of lung diseases, and fetal poisoning. The warning also included not using it in pregnant women, according to Al-Watan.

Al-Sara said that the drug is the first approved treatment, targeting a subgroup of HER2-negative breast cancer, and obtained approval from the US Food and Drug Administration, and the drug is intended for intravenous injection, and aims to treat a new type of breast cancer called HER2-Low, which is Intended for patients with advanced breast cancer that cannot be removed, surgically removed, or has widespread.

For its part, the Food and Drug General Authority in the Kingdom clarified that the product is still under registration procedures in the Kingdom, until the study is completed, the file of the product is evaluated and the medical claims are officially approved by the Authority.
