Disconnect and Reconnect with Nature at Escale au Lac: An Eco-friendly Accommodation in Rivière-à-Pierre

Escale au Lac appears like a mirage after a winding dirt road. Between the trees dotted with the first colors, and the most comforting smell of wood fire, the ecotourism accommodation site invites you to disconnect from the first moments.

We are in Rivière-à-Pierre, 30 kilometers north of Saint-Raymond in Portneuf, near Quebec. Jade Dussault and her spouse Anthony Roy were looking for land on which to build a chalet. They unearthed this one with an area of 6 million square feet. After traveling the world as a circus artist and technical director for FLIP Fabrique and testing hundreds of accommodation styles, they knew exactly what space they wanted to create.

“We found this place, we sat down by the lake, and we said to ourselves, we can’t just make a chalet for ourselves,” explains Jade, who wanted to share this enchanting setting with visitors.

3 mini-cabins in kind

Escale sur le Lac is made up of three mini-chalets (2 refuges and 1 loft). What is special is their energy autonomy since they are supplied with electricity thanks to solar panels. Each guest is encouraged to live according to the hours of sunshine and above all, to develop an awareness of their daily energy and water consumption. “We really love sustainable energy, ecology and, above all, after having traveled so much, we see the importance of doing our part…and quickly! So for us, there had to be this concern for the environment in our project. »

The land runs along the Jacques-Cartier bike path which in winter becomes a snowmobile trail. “As the region is booming in tourism and the flagrant lack of accommodation, the doors have opened, a great mutual aid has been born and several other phases are to come. »

Stopover in nature

At the edge of a lake, the two refuges and the loft are real havens of peace, with all the necessary amenities for a short stay. No cellular network (don’t worry, there is an excellent Starlink wi-fi network), only nature to admire.

There’s also a pretty spa with a dry sauna and jacuzzi, both heated with wood from fallen trees on the estate. The fire pits and picnic tables invite discussion with other travelers from all over.
