“Seduction is of the order of ritual, sex and desire of the order of the natural,” the French philosopher Jean Baudrillard once wrote. A point of view surely shared by Sara Leclère. The latter is the manager of Roomeo Nights, considered the only Love Room in Luxembourg.

Are you unfamiliar with the term? To put it simply, it is a hotel room dedicated to carnal pleasure offering all the necessary facilities to share an intimate and relaxing moment with your partner. The concept first appeared in Japan, where “love hotels” are now well established and where people go for a few hours or for the whole night. These were then exported all over the world.
In Luxembourg, we had to wait for the health crisis for a first offer of this type to see the light of day. In 2021, in the absence of business tourism, the Mama Shelter hotel in Kirchberg invented a “Mama Sexcation” range, a sultry offer for residents and cross-border commuters including an in-room meal as well as a complete kit naughty objects for a memorable night. However, it is indeed in December 2022 that the very first love room, solely dedicated to the pleasures of the flesh, opens its doors in the station district, rue Joseph Junck.

And we’ve been fighting for it ever since. “Weekends are regularly full, four weeks in advance. There is still room available during the week and for the end-of-year celebrations. Roomeo Nights is in fact the fruit of a French owner who wanted to implement the concept in Luxembourg, inspired by what was being done elsewhere.
Une love room accessible
When you enter the room, you immediately realize that we are not in a typical hotel room, with hedonism oozing from the floor to the ceiling. To the right, a folded massage table with several oils available.

On the left, a huge cross of Saint Andrew decorated with several straps to delight practitioners of sadomasochistic games. “This one was tailor-made,” emphasizes Sara Leclère. Obviously, a rack of whips, floggers and other handcuffs is available. “We wanted the love room to be accessible to everyone, but also with slightly more interesting accessories for the most curious,” says the manager. The whole thing can be subdued according to your preferred color.

For the most agile, in the middle of the room sits a swing which, according to the manager, allows access to a whole range of positions as diverse as they are varied. These are illustrated in a book placed on a table, right next to a so-called “sexual” chair. Here again, the most flexible among us should find what they’re looking for.

The less adventurous will console themselves with the ceiling mirror located just above the king size bed.

After the effort, comfort and for this, two choices are available to you: a shower which can offer a view of the room thanks to a glass wall or a jacuzzi, accompanied by a glass of champagne, the bottle being included in the price. the price of the room, just like the entire minibar. “The television also has all the adult channels,” explains Sara Leclère. One thing is certain: it is impossible not to satisfy one or more of your fantasies here.

If the concept has been developing for a long time in France or Belgium, it has only recently appeared in the Grand Duchy. Were Luxembourgers until then more prudish than their neighbors? Not necessarily according to Sara Leclère who speaks of a varied clientele. “Most of them are couples, not necessarily very young. And this extends to customers in their sixties. Our clientele is made up of Luxembourgers, Belgians, French, Germans and even English.”
For the manager, success can be explained by the need to add a little “spice” to intimate relationships. “And then there are the children at home and the daily routine which is quite tiring. People therefore need to relax, to be cut off from the world for a dozen hours.”
No, it’s not a hotel
Located in the sulphurous station district, the love room was quickly categorized as a simple passing hotel. A far too simplistic shortcut for the manager who speaks of a soft, chic and naughty experience. “Our love room is aimed at couples and lovers. This is not an establishment welcoming prostitutes. The feedback from our customers, many of which can be viewed online, is very good. From a security point of view, with regard to the neighborhood, they tell us they feel like they are in a bubble within the love room and that is positive, because that is the desired goal. It should also be noted that the room is disinfected and cleaned after each visit by a cleaning lady.”
For those most interested, count on €300 for an unforgettable night, with check-in at 5 p.m. for a “check-out” the next day at noon. “We also give pride of place to discretion, from transfer to receipt, in the sense that registration is done independently. There is a digital code for the building and the room, this is provided at the time of booking. For my part, I don’t meet anyone.”
Faced with the success, ideas flowed into the heads of the owner and manager. “You should know that the building also houses four other traditional hotel rooms. We could perhaps, one day, transform them into love rooms, according to different themes for example. We are also considering expanding our offering, by offering complete room service with meals and breakfast,” notes the manager, who also specifies that gift vouchers are now available. Something to spice up, for sure, the end-of-year celebrations.
