Museum solution: The listed Backhausen archive has ended up in good hands.

Last June, the traditional textile company Backhausen had to stop production. In Vienna around 1900, it was the most important producer of the fabrics that almost meant their world to Viennese artists: the fabrics, the covers for furniture, the curtains, the wallpapers were ultimately the carriers of the ornaments that connected everything into a whole. Josef Hoffmann, Kolo Moser, the many artists of the Wiener Werkstätte all designed them for Backhausen. The main work of secessionism, the Palais Stoclet in Brussels, was also furnished with textiles and carpets by Backhausen.
