Exceptionally renowned teddy bear hospital, the establishment accommodates numerous disciplines: plaster room, anesthesia, dentistry, and even a surgical suite.
Each stage of the journey allows the child to better understand the medical world, and why not to find a vocation. “The children are very motivated, and some are sure to go into medicine“, says Catherine, Member of the Belgian Medical Students Association (BeMSA).
Many ULB students supervised these activities with education and, above all, a lot of kindness. “This is important because they’re all going to be faced with a place like the hospital, but they seem to have had fun“, notes Emma Buttice, member of BeMSA. 252 children came to accompany their sick cuddly toy. A fun moment which allowed them to express all their creativity.
“We had some completely surprising pathologies“, wonders Jean-Christophe Beghin, chief doctor at the children’s hospital. “Some children also explain their stories through their cuddly toys“.
The teddy bear hospital will reopen next year, providing time for a well-deserved convalescence for all the teddy bears examined.
