Astronomers, using the James Webb telescope, discovered a huge galaxy about 25 million light-years away. The researchers say: The galaxy known as GS-9209 was formed about 600 to 800 million years after the Big Bang, and it is the oldest of its kind that has been discovered so far.

Lead researcher Dr Adam Carnal, from the University of Edinburgh’s School of Physics and Astronomy, said: “The James Webb Space Telescope has already shown that galaxies were forming much more and earlier than we would have expected during the first billion years of history.
