A total of 11,411 deaths in the country and 2,313 Colombians have disappeared in the national territory and abroad.
Legal Medicine delivered its most recent report on deaths and disappearances in Colombia. In the country, 76 people died violently every day, for a total of 11,411 deaths in the country and 2,313 Colombians have disappeared in the national territory and abroad.
Until May of this year, 11,411 people lost their lives due to homicides, suicides, traffic accidents and accidental deaths in the country. Men are the ones who have died the most with 9,933 deaths, while women register 1,473 cases.
Legal Medicine highlighted that until May there were 5,412 homicides, 3,327 deaths in traffic accidents, 1,412 accidental deaths and 1,260 suicides. Most of the victims were adults.
In the same way, the report highlighted that single people are the ones who die most violently in Colombia.
This year, 105 members of the ELN, the Dissidents, and Drug Traffickers, among other illegal groups that operate in the country, have died violently, while 59 members of the public force have lost their lives in violent acts.

Until May of this year, 2,313 Colombians had disappeared both in Colombia and abroad, of which 2,294 disappeared in the national territory and 19 outside the country.
The report highlighted that 1,384 men have disappeared, of which 1,164 were adults, while in the case of women, 929 have disappeared and most of the reported cases are minors with 551 cases.
Of the 2,313 Colombians reported as missing, 1,350 are single; in 270 cases it has been possible to verify that the disappeared person was a drug user and in 58 cases, it was allegedly forced disappearances.
Until May 31, 185 Colombians disappeared in Venezuela and 10 in Ecuador, these being the two countries where the most disappearances of compatriots are reported.
Finally, Legal Medicine highlighted that of these 2,313 Colombians, 93 were found dead, 922 alive, and the whereabouts of 1,298 remain a mystery.
