Djokovic fired at the referee. “Would you like some tea?” Tennis

The sensation became a fact. Novak Djokovic lost to Jannik Sinner in the first men’s semi-final at the Australian Open 1-6, 2-6, 7-6 (6), 3-6. The 22-year-old played as if in a trance. He took advantage of all the mistakes of the experienced Serb, who was especially unable to cope with the Italian’s powerful serve. “The best tennis player in the world simply didn’t have his day and the Italian took advantage of it. He was undoubtedly better in today’s match,” the Serbian media clearly admitted after the defeat of his compatriot.

Djokovic couldn’t stand it again. He blamed the referee for not silencing the fans

The first set lasted 36 minutes, and the second set three minutes longer. For just over an hour, Novak Djokovic was completely helpless. Only in the third game did he start a real fight with Sinner, winning in the tie-break 7:6(6). Certainly, many fans believed that the 36-year-old could return to the fight for good, but this did not happen.

When Djokovic was already losing 1:4 in the fourth set, an unusual situation occurred at some point. The Serb then tried to make a pass, but he was constantly interrupted by the loud shouts of the fans gathered in the stadium. After bouncing the ball on the court for a while, the concentrated 36-year-old wanted to serve again, but at some point he couldn’t stand it.

With a grimace on his face, he looked at the judge and blurted out: Will you tell them something? Will you just sit there quietly? – said Djokovic. After a moment, with frustration on his face, he added: Would you like a cup of tea? Despite this, the referee did not decide to respond to the tennis player’s taunts. This is not the first time that fans have distracted a Serbian player during a match. For some of them, the 36-year-old is very sharp.

The defeat against Sinner means that Novak Djokovic will not win the 11th Australian Open title in his career and will not defend the cup he won last year. Moreover, the 36-year-old ended his 33-game winning streak in Melbourne, which had lasted 2,195 days, and lost in the semi-finals for the first time after ten wins.

However, for the 22-year-old Italian it will be the first Grand Slam final in his career. Jannik Sinner will face the winner of the Zverev-Medvedev fight.
