Djurgården’s home opener against Häcken was a huge drama.

The match ended 3–3 after a dream debut by Tokmac Nguyen.

– It was completely crazy, says the 30-year-old.

With ten minutes remaining, Häcken led 3–0 at the Tele2 arena.

Then Djurgården’s new attacking star Tokmac Nguen – who sat on the bench in the opener against IFK Göteborg – entered the field.

The debut could hardly have gone better. In the 87th minute, Nguyen was responsible for a dream goal, when he turned into the field and placed the ball up towards the right cross, 1-3.

“Here to help the club”

A minute later he struck again, 2–3, on return.

– It was a good start. I’m here to help the club and score goals. And I did that today. It felt good., says Nguen is back after a longer injury break.

– I haven’t played a match for quite a while and haven’t played regular football for a while either, so we have to be honest in saying that.

The 30-year-old praises the setting of the match.

– It was absolutely fantastic, absolutely crazy. The supporters were with us the whole time, even when we were 3-0 down, so they deserved the point today.

Djurgården thus managed to turn 0–3 into 3–3 within seven minutes. Nguyen’s two goals were followed up with an equalizer – in the 94th minute – on a penalty by captain Marcus Danielson.

– I have not been involved in a similar pick-up. Nobody who was there today will forget this match, says Danielson to Sportbladet.

“He has set the bar”

Häcken took the lead in the first half, when the former Djurgård striker Edward Chilifuya countered to make it 1-0. In the second half, Julius Lindberg made it 2-0 with a cannon shot before Zeidane Inoussa

Djurgården now stands on four points after two rounds, while Häcken has one point.

After the cross, Nguen was widely praised.

– Incredibly good entry. What a player. Class on the first goal and good that he continues the run on my shot, says Lucas Bergvall.

Besard Sabovic agrees.

– He is very, very cunning. Quick, and what a hell of an ending. It feels very exciting. I am very, very impressed with this short time.

Is this what you can expect now?

– Now he has set the bar. As soon as he doesn’t score, he will hear it.

Sporting director Bosse Andersson also enjoyed Nguyen’s entry.

– It’s great fun, we know he’s a skilled footballer. I am incredibly happy that he gets to show off his best side, he has an incredible number of offensive qualities that we have had a taste of for ourselves. We know he has had a very tough time and has a journey back. We know that we have a sharp tool in the short term to throw in, it will be good for the future.
