There are some factors that trigger migraine attacks, such as stress, lack of sleep, temperature fluctuations, skipping meals, and hormonal influences for women.

And now, scientists from the Swedish University of Malmö suggest a new way to treat migraine through the sublingual mucosa, according to the Russian newspaper “Izvestia”.

And the International Journal of Pharmaceuticals indicates that university scientists are conducting a study on relieving migraine pain, as researchers believe that headache pills cannot reach the bloodstream at the speed required to relieve the spasm. So they decided to “cut down the road” by putting these pills under the tongue.

And she adds, most analgesic drugs use triptans, which interact with serotonin receptors, thus suppressing pain signals in brain centers.

According to the researchers, “The active substances are normally absorbed in the stomach or liver, and half of a triptan dose is consumed in the gastrointestinal tract before it reaches the blood. To achieve this effect, the maximum concentration of the triptan in the blood must be reached within two hours, but this does not happen.”

For this reason, the researchers decided to put the pills under the tongue so that the active substance in them quickly reaches the bloodstream through the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, and the final results of these tests will be announced in the spring of this year.
