The boy, Saleh, published a video on his personal page on Facebook, which showed attempts to calm his collapsed mother after the ruling was issued, so that he, too, lost his endurance and entered a fit of crying and screaming.

The mother remained in a state of “shock” from the court’s decision, after there were expectations that a lenient sentence would be taken, especially since the victim’s family took revenge by cutting off my hand and gouging out Saleh’s eye.

The crime of assaulting the Zarqa boy, which occurred in October 2020, sparked a great wave of anger in Jordan, where a group of people avenged the killing of their relative at the hands of Saleh’s father, by cutting off his hands and gouging one of his eyes.

It is noteworthy that on March 17, the State Security Court sentenced 6 of the 17 defendants to death in the incident known as the “Zarqa Boy” case.

The death sentence was issued against 6 defendants, one of whom is a fugitive from justice.

At the time, the court also sentenced two of the defendants, 10 and 15, and two others to one year in prison, but did not acquit 7 defendants.

The verdict against the defendants came, about 6 months after the incident that shook the Jordanian and Arab street when, on October 13, 2020, they assaulted the 16-year-old boy, Saleh Hamdan, in Zarqa Governorate (central), amputating his hands and gouging his eyes.
