Brigadier General Óscar Andrés Lamprea, commander of the Aburrá Valley Metropolitan Police, reported that the alleged attacker was found dead in the bathroom of the office, after murdering the surgeon at the Medellín Clinic.
“A person enters the ninth floor and according to preliminary investigations, physically attacks a surgeon who is there in the office with a firearm,” said the Police Officer.
The doctor died at the scene, while according to the Police report, the aggressor barricaded himself in one of the offices: “In a quick action by the National Police, they arrived at the scene and showed that this person was at the site, however there is a conflagration in this office, so far we do not know the causes of it,” said General Lamprea.
Once at the scene, the Police verified that the alleged aggressor was inside, but did not respond, so they entered the office, which was full of smoke: “They cleared the entire office, they did not find any people, the bathroom door was missing. , where they found a person without vital signs and with a firearm next to him,” added the General.
The doctor’s assistant, who was also in the office, was injured in the abdomen and is being treated at the same healthcare center.
The CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office is at the scene carrying out the investigation and removal of the lifeless bodies.
So far, the motives for the crime and the cause of death of the alleged attacker are unknown.
