Doha: Officials of the General Directorate of Passports were arrested in Doha for abuse of power. The officials were arrested by the Ministry of Home Affairs with evidence.
The action was taken following a detailed investigation. He was arrested on charges of abuse of power, embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds.
The authorities have not released further details of those arrested. A government employee who embezzles public property or abuses his authority can be jailed for a maximum of 10 years. They have been handed over to the public prosecution for further legal proceedings.
