Domestic Analogues: A Shift in Russia’s Drug Market and the Rise of Affordable Alternatives

2023-09-07 05:03:00

In Russia, citizens began to actively use domestic analogues of foreign drugs, which led to a reduction in the range of foreign drugs by 20%. This is evidenced by the data of the analytical company DSM Group.

According to DSM Group, in 2023 the range of foreign drugs will be 6.4 thousand items, which is 20.3% less than a year earlier. “Prices for some imported drugs are too high, and against the backdrop of declining incomes, consumers opt for analogues, which are often much cheaper,” Viktoria Presnyakova, director of the self-regulatory organization Association of Independent Pharmacies, tells RBC.

Earlier, the media wrote that the Russians began to massively save on medicines. Due to the price of drugs, many began to refuse essentials. According to polls, 68% of citizens are in austerity mode, writes MK.RU.
