Mumbai: A man has been arrested for stealing diamond jewelery worth Rs 5 lakh from Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s sister Arpita’s house. Mumbai’s Khar police nabbed the accused and recovered the stolen jewellery. The accused is Sandeep Hegde, an employee of Arpita’s house.
Arpita’s house was robbed last day. Then they lodged a complaint with Khar police. In the complaint, jewelery worth Rs 5 lakh was stolen and it was kept in a make-up tray. In the subsequent investigation, the accused was arrested last evening. Sandeep, who was arrested, was working as a housekeeper in Arpita’s house. 12 people including him have been looking for work in Arpita’s house for the last four months.
He is a resident of Ambewadi slum in Parle East, Mumbai. The accused was nabbed by a team consisting of Vinod Gaonkar, Laxman Kakde and Gowli led by Senior Inspector Mohan Mane. The stolen jewelery was recovered from his house. According to the police, Sandeep was running away after the theft. A case has been registered against Sandeep under Section 381 of the Indian Penal Code. He has been taken into police custody.
Arpita’s husband is actor Ayush Sharma. The children are Ayath and Ahil.
