In recent years, many a power metal highlight with an interesting and comprehensive concept has emerged in the Far North, more precisely in Sweden. And also the German newcomers MASTER around fronter and mastermind Felix Heldt alias Dr. Dead, who already has songs for FIRE TAIL, FREEDOM CALL and VISIONS OF ATLANTIS wrote, bring a story about the undead, zombies and the fight for survival that runs through all elements of the band.

But musically, the role models are also appropriately the Kraftwolves from Germany, blood-bound Swedes and a metal war shoe, garnished with the audible fall of the hammer and other elements that charmingly and cleverly mix “Hey Living People” into their very own sound. “Immortalis Dominum” is the name of the band’s first anthem, which immediately impresses with spherical synth-wave sounds, anthemic vocals and a lot of power and immediately catches the ear thanks to Felix’s strong vocal lines. Due to the dark undertones and the energetic performance, one could also speak of shock rock to stadium rock. There is definitely plenty of opportunity to sing along or shout along – with many polyphonic shouts and choirs. The next energetic hit candidate immediately answers the name “Danger Danger”. SATURDAY were clearly the inspiration in the chorus, followed by the title track, which features synths that are reminiscent of the early Nintendo era and a certain AOR note à la PRETTY MAIDSoffers itself as another live anthem.

You can already imagine the opulent stage show, walking zombies on the stage and many extras in the production, which is sure to get bigger and bigger over the next few years, along with pyros and other effects. So DOMINUM always provides fan service, uses the strengths of the aforementioned troops, but garnishes them with their own ideas and always great choruses that you just have to sing along to. With the heavy sounding but also soulful piano sounds “Cannibal Corpses” and the dark, driving “Frankenstein” the lyrics more than do justice to the concept.

Even if “Hey Living People” doesn’t quite hold the same level towards the end, if you exclude the charming “You Spin Me Right Round (Like A Records)”, which many probably know from the Hangover soundtrack, we have one here are hot candidates for the next big festival shows and headliner tours, I’m sure. DOMINUM doesn’t invent anything new here, but they offer fans of the aforementioned troops a full range of uplifting and highly motivated Power Metal with a catchy tune.
