Dongelberg Quarry: Diving Accident and Safety Measures

2023-12-19 10:22:00

The former Dongelberg quarry in the commune of Jodoigne was once once more the scene of a diving accident this weekend.
An instructor in his fifties died while practicing his sport.

The Walloon Brabant Public Prosecutor’s Office does not give details on the exact circumstances of the accident but it rules out the theory of suicide or a criminal act. The spokesperson speaks of an unfortunate accident. This is the 4th in 4 years on this site. The last one happened last April. It led to the closure of the quarry by order of the mayor for a few weeks. The site had reopened following inspection and recommendations from the emergency area. This is not the case this time. The elements in its possession confirm that the club respected the rules in force.
