“DORAM” on the phone: a clean phone will work much faster, will not discharge for longer | Business

An expert on smart devices points out that unnecessary files not only slow down the operation of phones, but can also threaten the security of personal data.

“Smartphones accumulate a variety of files very quickly – high-resolution photos, videos, apps and games. All of them not only take up space in the device’s internal memory, but can also affect the phone’s operating speed and battery life.

For the second year in a row, we join the “Mes darom” initiative and invite phone users to tidy up their smart devices as well, together with the “DOING on the phone” campaign of Bitės, Martynas Vrubliauskas, Prof of Bitės, says in a press release.

First, check your internal memory

According to the expert, cleaning the smartphone should start with checking the internal memory – to find out how much space various files and apps take up.

“If the phone starts running slower or shows messages due to lack of memory, the first thing you should do is check how much free space is left in the device’s internal memory. The phones of all the most popular manufacturers have convenient tools that help you find what are the biggest “eaters” of memory on your device, says M. Vrubliauskas, an expert on smart devices.

You can check the internal memory of your Samsung phone by opening the settings, where you will find the “Device maintenance” panel – here you will immediately see how much free space is left on the device. On your iPhone, you can find internal storage statistics by opening Settings, selecting General, then iPhone Storage. Meanwhile, the internal memory resources of the Xiaomi phone can be found on the main screen of the device by selecting “Security”.

Most of the internal memory resources are usually taken up by games, apps and high-definition videos, so it is recommended to remove unnecessary files and transfer those that are no longer relevant to online storage.

Don’t invest in something you don’t use

M. Vrubliauskas advises to remove unused apps that not only take up space and drain the phone’s battery, but can pose a threat to data security.

“Some apps store your confidential information, so if you no longer use them, it’s worth considering keeping them on your phone. Paradoxically, many people don’t even think about the fact that even unused apps constantly ask for updates, take up space on your device and use data that costs you money,” explains M. Vrubliauskas, representative of the digital services company “Bitė Lietuva”.

After removing unnecessary apps from the phone, you should also clear the cache of the most frequently used apps, which stores temporary data. For example, the Spotify app caches your most frequently used playlists.

“Sometimes old cache data is inaccurate or wrong, which causes apps to start running slower.” Clearing the cache on a regular basis re-accumulates the files, making apps work more efficiently again. It is especially recommended to clear the caches of apps such as Messenger, Chrome, YouTube and other social networks, because the data they accumulate takes up the most of the phone’s memory,” advises the expert.

Get rid of the trash

In addition to apps and games, the phone’s internal memory is occupied by photos and videos, among which there are also unnecessary files – repeating identical photos (duplicates), video files accumulated by various apps, and screenshots.

“We typically store thousands of captured moments in our phone gallery, and although the device’s memory can sometimes be expanded with an additional memory card, hundreds of gigabytes of footage can slow down a smartphone. Therefore, removing unnecessary, repetitive photos or other video files not only frees up internal memory resources, but also saves money, which will need to be spent on purchasing an additional memory card or space in the cloud,” advises M. Vrubliauskas.

You can find duplicate photos in your Samsung phone gallery by opening the gallery and tapping the three-bar icon at the bottom of the app. In the menu that opens, select “Suggestions” and “Delete identical photos”. To remove duplicates from iPhone, first open the photo gallery, click on “Albums” at the bottom, scroll to the very bottom of the screen and look for the “Duplicates” option there.

“Most importantly, after removing duplicate photos and videos, don’t forget to clean the gallery trash as well, where deleted files are stored for another 30 days and take up internal memory. “If you don’t want to delete photos, you can also transfer them to online data storage, such as Google Photos, OneDrive, DropBox, and others,” Prof. Bitė is convinced.

“Bites Profai” invites you to join the spring cleaning promotion “DAROM telefone”. You will find more information on how to fix your phone here.
