On Friday, Burgenland’s Governor Hans Peter Doskozil (SPÖ) was a guest on ORF’s “ZiB 2”. He once more called for an upper limit of 10,000 asylum applications per year and that social benefits no longer be paid to people with negative asylum decisions. When it comes to asylum, Austria is no longer “in control of the situation,” said Doskozil. He repeatedly emphasized the Dublin Regulation, according to which migrants must apply for asylum in the EU country in which they arrive. “That may not be fair, but that is the European regime,” said the state governor.
