As of 9 p.m. last night, there were 38,928 new cases of COVID-19.

That’s almost double what it was a week ago and almost 4 times what it was two weeks ago.

As of 9 pm on Saturday night, it is the highest in 10 weeks since May.

Considering the number of new cases added by midnight, the number of new cases today is expected to reach 40,000.

The recent COVID-19 resurgence is being led by BA.5, a sub-mutation of the Omicron.

In the United States, the average daily number of more than 130,000 confirmed cases is pouring due to the spread of BA.5.

In response to the spread of this pandemic, the US government has extended the ‘public health emergency’ until October.

In Japan, the number of new cases exceeded 100,000 for the first time in five months.

Following BA.5, BA.2.75, which is called ‘monster mutation’, is coming out, and there is a concern about the ‘single fad’.

The World Health Organization (WHO) maintains that these highly infectious mutations have a low fatality rate, but require further analysis.

As the holiday season begins in earnest, the quarantine authorities plan to strengthen quarantine by sending quarantine personnel to airports and major tourist destinations across the country.

“We plan to increase quarantine management personnel at major tourist destinations across the country from July to September, when the holiday season and Chuseok holidays coincide.”

In addition, starting tomorrow, the target of the fourth vaccine will be expanded to those in their 50s and older and those with underlying diseases over the age of 18.
