Controls around the Dour festival are tightened every year and some people have no shortage of ingenious ideas to get under the police radar. This is the case of Cédric, a professional musician from Brussels.
During the 2022 edition of the festival, the man chose to camp on the site. He brought all his equipment. Unfortunately for him, the police thought of searching the pump which is used to inflate an air mattress.
Inside were two vials of GHB, ecstasy pills, amphetamines and MDMA. “It’s for my personal consumption,” he told the police who carried out the search.
Penal transaction refused
A transaction of 800 euros was offered to him but the musician, an intermittent performer, refused because he did not have the means to pay such a sum of money. “It’s a shame, this appearance before me and the procedural costs will cost you much more,” his judge informs him.

Having refused this transaction, Cédric was referred to the criminal court to answer for possession of narcotics. There is no evidence that he intended to sell his products on the festival site. “He could have contacted my office and accepted this plea agreement, spread over several installments,” declares the deputy prosecutor.
The latter is not opposed to a preferential measure, despite the relatively large quantities of drugs found. Cédric has no criminal record. He did not even consult a lawyer, due to lack of sufficient financial means. The life of an artist is tough…
