Police have discovered the body parts of at least 13 people in freezers in Mexico. The investigation into the find in two houses in the city of Poza Rica in the east of the country was ongoing, the Attorney General of the state of Veracruz said on Monday. Six suspects were arrested. The background initially remained unclear.
Numerous organizations involved in drug trafficking, extortion and kidnapping are active in Mexico. Last year, almost 32,000 homicides were registered in the Latin American country with around 126 million inhabitants.
