Five people lost their lives in a fire. It happened rue des Fours à Chaux in Ville-sur-Haine in the entity of Roeulx (Hainaut).
Shortly before midnight, the firefighters were unable to do anything. The 5 occupants of the house died. They are members of the same family. Two grandparents, their daughter and son-in-law as well as their grandson. Firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control fairly quickly following arriving.
It was a motorist passing in front of the house who noticed flames, according to Benoît Friart, mayor of Roeulx. Neighbors, warned, tried to intervene without success, the shutters being closed.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. The police began the investigation and the prosecution descended on the spot.
