As a reminder, a 37-year-old Seresian was found hanged early Friday morning in Plainevaux. In the individual’s car, parked nearby, was a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who was rescued. Also on Friday, around noon, the lifeless body of a 14-year-old girl from Anderlecht was then discovered along a path in Ougrée (Seraing).
The Liège public prosecutor’s office quickly established that the two facts seemed to be linked. The Anderlecht teenager was probably contacted by the 30-year-old via social networks. The Sérésien would have offered to go shopping and an appointment would have been fixed in the Brussels region. The young girl would have accepted the proposal and would have taken her little sister with her. The two girls had been reported missing as of Thursday evening.

However, the suspect was already known to the courts for an arson attack that occurred last year. The Seresian was also a former consumer of alcohol and narcotics.
He always took care of his own
The suspect’s cousin describes him as “a loving dad“. “He always took care of his own, be it his children, sisters, brothers, mothers, cousins. We’ve always been a pretty tight-knit family. We help each other quite well. We are good people, we are good families. We don’t know, we are really as disturbed as the miss’s family. We are very shocked“, he explains.
He is someone who liked to meet at the edge of a chalet and watch the landscape
For this cousin, there was no indication that the 37-year-old Seresian could have committed a serious act. “Morally and psychologically, he was a young man set in his head, who had his ideas, who had goals in life. One of his goals was, for example, to reach Switzerland, because he loved this country. I can explain to you why, it’s because it’s in the open air. It’s less pressure than here. He was someone who liked to be at the edge of a chalet and watch the landscape. Now there you go, he’s a man who never had suicidal thoughts, never“, explains the witness. According to him, if the suicide is confirmed, it could have been seen as an “escape” by the Seresian.

During our interview, the man wanted to send a message to the family of the deceased girl and teenager. “We are all in mourning, and we want to express our mourning to the family of the deceased. We put ourselves in their place. We understand very well. We are here to appease, and above all to let the investigation be carried out“, he confides.
The suspect was himself the father of three children. “The two big ones are very bad. They have lost a dad. I don’t go too far, because I saw them from afar. Mom is a very, very good person. She accompanies her children very well to bring about the most serene mourning possible, and so that the children may one day be able to mourn. Knowing that the mother was no longer with the father, but here she is, in any case she keeps her role as mother, and she is a very good person“, he concludes.
