During the night from Friday to Saturday, a driver entered the Antwerp pre-metro at Astrid station with her car, report our colleagues from Nieuwsblad. The woman thought she was entering the parking lot of a hotel located not far from the station.
The infrastructure of the metro station, as well as the driver’s car, were damaged. Firefighters arrived on scene and towing services hauled the car out of the subway station.
Neither the driver nor the metro users were injured.
This is not the first time that a car has entered this metro station. A similar event took place in broad daylight in 2017.
