Drought: does Belgium lack water?

2023-04-21 07:44:44

France and other European countries are experiencing a period of drought very early this year. It has no more and the water tables and soils are dry. And with us, is it so complicated? Could we also experience a dry spell?

To find out, we met Olivier, the director of the Condroz Intermunicipal Water Association. Olivier takes us to see a spring located in Buzin in the Province of Namur.

For the moment, the water level is good thanks to the good rains of the last few weeks. And apparently, the situation is the same everywhere in Wallonia. Winter is a very important time for water: the water tables fill and recharge. This supply is valuable for the rest of the year.

If the situation is stable here, scientists are monitoring it very closely. Because everything can change quickly. That’s why it’s important to use water wisely.
