Dubai has also recently launched new business accelerators. For metaverse, at a time when it is home to a growing number of investment funds in the field of “blockchain” that seek to expand their business, to include the world of metaverse, such as the “Cypher Capital” fund.
And last May, the Dubai Digital Asset Regulatory Authority became the first government arm in the world to enter the world of metaverse, when it established its official headquarters in the virtual world “The Sandbox”.
This step reflects the confidence of the Dubai government that virtual assets are an integral part of the future digital economy, and confirms its willingness to consolidate the emirate’s position as the capital of virtual assets in the world.
The magazine’s list included Singapore, which ranked second; It was one of the first cities to embrace digital twinning when it launched the Digital Singapore project in 2014. Singapore is home to Visio Technologies, which has a large group of government clients in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN); It publishes its patented technology, utilizing satellite technology and artificial intelligence, to create digital twins of cities on the web.
Seoul came in third place; In 2021, the mayor of Seoul announced the launch of an ambitious project, Metaverse, to take advantage of the technologies used in the digital world to enhance life in the city. By 2023, citizens will be able to meet government officials in the digital world, to deal with complaints and civil consultations, which are usually only considered by visiting government departments.
Shanghai was ranked fourth on the magazine’s list, and at the end of 2021, the city announced a 5-year plan, to take advantage of the world of metaphysics and use it to accomplish public and private interests. The government recently announced its ambition to grow the value of the local metaverse sector, to reach $52 billion by 2025, while attracting 10 global leading companies and 100 new metaverse companies to its local system.
