Dubai: Driverless taxis have started trial runs in the city. Self-driving taxis are being tested in the Jumeirah One area.

In collaboration with the self-driving technology company Cruise in the Jumeirah One area, RTA has put driverless taxis on the road for testing. As it is a trial phase, the driverless taxi will have a driver to ensure the safety of the public. The trial run is aimed at making autonomous taxis more precise in the nature of Dubai city.

Chevrolet Bolt cars are now on the road as driverless taxis. Cruise’s driverless taxis have been operating in the US since February last year. Experiments are actively progressing in this area to achieve the goal put forward by the Ruler of Dubai to make 25 percent of the vehicles in the city of Dubai driverless by 2030.
