DUBU, who drew the popular Korean manga “I Level Up Alone”, died of cerebral hemorrhage | 4Gamers

REDICE Studio announced today (25th) that DUBU (장성락), the artist and creator of the Korean comic “I Level Up Alone” (나혼자만레벨업), died of a cerebral hemorrhage on the 23rd, and the funeral was held by his family.

The plot of “I Level Up Alone” describes that a passage called a “door” appeared between the real world and a different world full of monsters, and some human superpowers were awakened and became “hunters”. The hero Shui Xiaoxun (Korean translation: Cheng Zhenyu) is the lowest E-level hunter. He was trapped in a dungeon during a certain mission. Before dying, a mysterious mission window appeared in front of the hero. After accepting it, I became a “player” who can improve my self-status…

The initial version of “I Upgrade Alone” was launched by Chugong, serialized on KakaoPage in July 2016, and the version drawn by DUBU was released in March 2018. The adapted animated version will be released in 2023, produced by A-1 Pictures, directed by Nakashige Junsuke, script coordinator by Yukimura, character design by Tomoko Sudo, and composed by Hiroyuki Sawano.

DUBU has suspended several times due to health problems during the serialization of “I Level Up Alone”, and the symptoms of cerebral hemorrhage may be due to chronic diseases. It’s a pity that DUBU can no longer see the animated version of “I Upgrade Alone” with my own eyes. May the deceased rest in peace.
