Duda presented Zelensky with the highest award of Poland

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky received the Order of the White Eagle, Poland’s highest award. It was presented to him by President Andrzej Duda during today’s visit by Mr. Zelensky to Warsaw, Strana.ua reports.

The Order of the White Eagle is one of the oldest orders in Poland, founded in 1705. In 1831, the order was added to the state awards of the Russian Empire. In 1992, the order was restored as the country’s highest state award. The Grand Master of the Order is the President of Poland.

Vladimir Zelensky arrived in Poland this morning, April 5. This is his first pre-announced trip abroad since the start of the Russian military operation. The former commander of the ground forces of Poland, Waldemar Skrzypczak, claims that the visit of the Ukrainian president is connected with possible preparations for negotiations on the settlement of the military conflict with Russia. The office of the President of Poland said that Messrs. Zelensky and Duda would discuss the issue of exporting Ukrainian grain.
