Events.- Police are investigating the death of a child after he was attacked by three dogs inside a Duncanville home.

Officers responded around 10:40 a.m. to a home in the 1500 block of Lime Leaf Lane and found the 1-year-old victim unconscious, police said.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Children’s Medical Center Dallas, where he died shortly after.

Stogner said the homeowner tried to get the dogs, which weigh about 80 pounds each, away from the baby before first responders arrived, but was unsuccessful. She also suffered injuries, the police chief said.

Police declined to comment on whether the woman was a family friend or relative of the child or if she has a daycare home, citing the pending investigation.

Duncanville Animal Control responded to the home and took possession of the dogs.

No criminal charges have been filed, but police are working with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office as the investigation continues.

Stogner called the boy’s death a tragedy and said first responders worked hard to try to save him.
