Game news Dune: Funcom unveils first visuals for its survival game

According to the first information, Dune is part of several development projects within the Funcom studio. In the vein of the novel or films of the same name, today it’s a survival game that is revealed timidly through two first visuals.
From novel to video game
Released in September 2021 in dark rooms, Dune is a science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve and which is itself an adaptation of the first part of the novel of the same name written by Franck Herbert and published in 1965. Awarded this year by several Oscars, the story features Paul Atreides, a rather gifted young man, who will be taken to Planet Dune. Reputed to be the most dangerous planet in the universe, it is also the only planet to produce a resource called “Spice”, a coveted drug that is capable of developing superhuman faculties. For Funcom, it’s a cinematic synopsis and setting that perfectly suits the style of an open-world multiplayer survival game, as seen in these first two artworks, unveiled by Funcom, below. It is also easy to recognize the desert environment of Dune.
A mass recruitment
If we will have to settle for simple visuals to get our teeth into for the moment, Funcom mainly takes the opportunity to make an announcement on its official website and seek to expand its team of developers.. Whether for design, production or marketing, the studio is aiming for its project with an upcoming massive recruitment of directors, designers, programmers and other artists…
That being said, the game is still far from showing up, but you can always try to wait with Dune : Spice Warsa “Soft 4X STR” type game, available in early access on PC, mixing strategy, tactics and management at the same time, and also largely inspired by the latest Dune film.
