Man wanted to detonate bomb at secondary school

Düsseldorf – Excitement at the Flora Realschule in Düsseldorf. There, a man (23) apparently wanted to detonate a homemade bomb!

The man from Solingen was noticed by federal police officers at around 3.45 a.m. on Wednesday night at Düsseldorf Central Station. When the police spoke to him, he is said to have confided in them after a short time and confessed that there was a bomb in his pocket.

He allegedly wanted to detonate the explosive device at the secondary school in Düsseldorf, but only damage property if there were no people in the building at night – according to his statements. The school was then searched with sniffer dogs as a precaution. However, nothing dangerous was discovered.

The police cannot yet say exactly what the 23-year-old’s motive is. Mental health problems are suspected. It has not yet been clarified whether the man was a student at the Realschule.

The investigators are currently ruling out a terrorist background, but the investigation is still in its infancy.
