Dutch king accepts refugees in the castle

Dutch King Willem-Alexander wants to take in refugees from Ukraine. Six to eight families or 20 to 30 people might be accommodated at Castle ‘t Oude Loo near Apeldoorn from mid-April, the court announced on Monday in The Hague.

The palace, located regarding 90 kilometers east of Amsterdam, is state property and is currently rented by the king. However, the king and his family live in The Hague. The family mainly uses the 15th-century hunting lodge for family reunions. So far, a good 12,500 refugees from Ukraine have been accommodated in the Netherlands. In addition, an unknown number of people from the war zone have found shelter with family members or friends.
