Dutchman Kroll snatches gold in speed skating in Beijing

Dutchman Thomas Kroll won the gold in the 1000m speed skating race at the Winter Olympics, currently being held in the Chinese capital, Beijing.

Dutchman Thomas Kroll won the gold medal in the 1000-meter speed skating race, at the Winter Olympics, currently being held in the Chinese capital, Beijing, to be his first Olympic gold, knowing that he was crowned with silver in the 1500-meter race.

Kroll, 29, a three-time world champion, seized the opportunity as soon as it came to him, as he was not selected for the team that participated in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics in South Korea.

Canadian Laurent Dubreuil finished second, while Norway’s Howard Lorentzen, who had won silver at Pyeongchang 2018, took bronze today.
