A Entertainment Software Association (ESA) and ReedPop announced, this Thursday (30), that the physical and virtual editions of E3 2023 have been cancelled. Confirmation came after several companies refused to participate in the event.
AE3 was scheduled to take place between June 13th and 16th, at the Los Angeles Convention Center, in the United States. The 2023 edition would be the first to be held in person since 2019. The event was once considered the largest in the world about games.
The cancellation information did not take the specialized press by surprisebearing in mind that the biggest game publishers had already informed that they would not participate in this year’s edition for various reasons.
The first Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) was held in May 1995 in Los Angeles, United States. The event was created by the Interactive Digital Software Association (IDSA), which became known as the Entertainment Software Association (ESA).

E3 has become an annual reference point for the games industry, always featuring the biggest news from the main publishers in the market. The success lasted until 2019, the last year in which a fair had an in-person edition.
Because of the pandemic, there was no E3 in 2020. In 2021, a digital edition of the event took place, but it did not attract as much success as the physical editions. Ultimately, in 2022, digital E3 was canceled and there will be no E3 in 2023 either.

E3 2023, a technology fair that takes place in Los Angeles, in the United States, has suffered heavy losses in recent weeks after Xbox, Nintendo and Ubisoft confirmed that they will not participate in the event this year. The 2023 edition will be the first after two long years of the covid-19 pandemic, a period in which the convention was suspended for health reasons.
This time, the event could be postponed after three large companies in the gamer segment chose not to set up booths and take products to the North American fair. In the case of Xbox and Ubisoft, the companies must promote a live transmission in the coming months to cut costs considering the imminent crisis in the market.

As Andy Robinson speculates, from the Video Games Chronicle portal, the fact that three huge players canceled their participation in E3 2023 could cause the fair’s management to suspend this year’s edition. “I wouldn’t be surprised even if it’s canceled this week, but I hope it isn’t,” said the expert.
Robinson also says that there is a lot of speculation and noise about the event, so it remains to wait for official information from E3. Despite the unfair comparison, it should be remembered that in 2022 the Brasil Game Show (BGS) also suffered from the loss of exhibitors, with Xbox being the most notorious, however, the fair still took place.
E3 2023 is scheduled to take place between June 13th and 16th, that is, less than three months from now. The company is expected to comment on the rumors soon.
