Each of the thousand and one will have their say, according to Nicole Assélé –

In a communication made on her Facebook account, the President of the feminist movement ”L’Appel des mille une”, Dr Nicole Assélé, in the frank and direct style that she is known for, called on her colleagues to exercise when the time comes all their rights by voting during the next referendum consultation on the draft constitution currently being developed. Nicole Assélé, who intends to call on the members of the Association that she directs to thematic and periodic consultations, in the coming days, around the future constitution, calls on each of them to have free will to decide in complete independence of mind and in complete freedom. Below, the entire communication.

Dear all, dear thousand and one

As you all know. Followingism is not in the DNA of the thousand and one.

I would therefore like to urge you to be lucid and to have a critical mind, regarding the project of the future Constitution which rightly divides the national political class and the entire Gabonese society, especially since it will determine the future of our country and will condition our living together.

The exhortation is not in the choice of YES or NO, but rather an invitation to lucidity and critical thinking.

Also, before each of us decides sovereignly for “YES” or “NO” during the next referendum consultation, it is essential and imperative to take the time to read and understand the necessary content of the Constitution. proposed, particularly in its essential and crucial provisions.

I would call at the appropriate time for thematic and periodic consultations likely to shed light on the ideas of the Thousand and One and to sharpen the choices of all, in complete freedom and responsibility.

I simply observe to regret it, the resurgence of the phenomenon of the creation of associations for propaganda purposes and the emergence of a new breed of conscientious objectors.

The same patterns, the same habits and the same reflexes previously denounced: The refrain.

As a feminist and apolitical movement, what unites us and cements our ideal is our commitment to the defense of women’s rights and their empowerment.

Our position regarding this constitution will be based above all, I am sure, on the place and role of women recommended therein.

Let’s stay engaged and informed.
