Eastern DRC: Strong demonstrations Monday in Kinshasa –

The situation was tense this Monday in downtown Kinshasa. Several demonstrations had been organized to denounce the complicity of the UN and certain countries in what is happening in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The assets and installations of MONUSCO and certain chancelleries based in Kinshasa were the target of the demonstrators. Had it not been for the intervention of the Congolese national police, the damage would be enormous.

« We came to ask the Americans and Europeans to leave our territory. They are hypocrites. They provide weapons and money to Rwanda to attack us. And force us to negotiate with our attackers. We don’t want them anymore, they are the enemies of the Congolese people“said a protester.

Another suggested that they will stop until the embassies of France, Great Britain and the USA are closed.

« May the police continue to protect our executioners. These protests will continue until the embassies of the countries that attack us are closed« .

For its part, the Congolese government through the Minister of the Interior called on the demonstrators to be calm and the police to maintain public order throughout the national territory.

It should be noted that the fight continues between the FARDC and the M23 terrorists supported by the Rwandan army. The loyalist forces of the DRC have also reinforced their numbers with new elements.
