Christmas is coming soon. If you are the one hosting your family this year, you may not know what to prepare for dinner. For this, there are meal boxes, which will make your life easier. We tested the HelloFresh one.
Christmas Eve or Christmas Eve are generally times of sharing and bonding with family. We eat good things, we exchange gifts, we laugh together… But that’s sometimes different when it’s up to us to prepare the meal. Indeed, stress can quickly set in and ruin the evening a little, when you don’t spend it in the kitchen rather than with the guests.
To avoid spending the evening behind the stove and thus be able to enjoy it with the rest of your family, HelloFresh, the meal box service delivered to your home, offers Christmas boxes. There are three different ones: the Classic box, the Veggie box and the Gourmet box. They are available for 2, 4, 6 or 8 people.
The principle ? You will receive a box on December 23 or 24, with all the ingredients needed to prepare your four-course Christmas meal. There are obviously some basic ingredients that you must have at home, such as olive oil, honey, broth, salt, etc. With it, you also receive the recipes. For the Christmas boxes, the recipe cards are a little different from usual and a color code tells you if the step can be prepared the day before, the day or at meal time.
We tested the Christmas box for four people
We previewed the Classic box, for four people. The promise ? A Christmas meal ready in three to four hours. To be honest, it took a little longer, but with all the steps prepared in advance, you don’t have to spend the evening in the kitchen and you can enjoy.
As a starter, we had turrets of smoked salmon with cream cheese and fresh herbs. Then, we continued the meal with parsnip soup with garlic and rosemary oil and parsnip chips. As a main course, it was a ham stuffed with thyme and rosemary, accompanied by tender potatoes with orange and vadouvan mayonnaise, broccolini with honey-balsamic vinaigrette, grated almonds and pomegranate seeds. Finally, for dessert, we had a chocolate mousse with orange coulis, almonds and rosemary.
Everything was very good! And it must be said that it was also a good thing to have a hearty and completely homemade Christmas meal, without spending the evening in the kitchen. Obviously, you need to have time to prepare certain steps during the day and also the day before. It is also possible to include a box of wines, adapted to your menu, in your Christmas box.
The Classic box is priced at €59.99 for 2 people, €109.99 for 4 people, €149.99 for 6 people and €179.99 for 8 people.
