A plane from the airline “EasyJet” landed on Wednesday at Rabat-Salé airport, marking the inauguration of a new service between Nantes and the capital of the Kingdom.
After landing on the tarmac of Rabat-Salé airport, the Airbus 320 ensuring this first direct flight with 140 passengers on board, was greeted by a “water salute”, thus passing under an arch formed of jets of water projected by water cannons.
The director of Rabat-Salé airport, Mohamed Benhaddouch, stressed that the airport installation welcomed for the first time the company EasyJet which will serve several European cities, namely Nice, Geneva and Nantes. He added that currently Rabat-Salé airport is connected to 15 European destinations as well as an internal line which connects it to the city of Agadir.
Passenger traffic at Rabat-Salé Airport recorded an increase of more than 44% during the first nine months of 2023, compared to the same period of 2022. Thus, a total of 862,816 passengers have traveled through Rabat-Salé airport during the first nine months of 2023, compared to 600,679 passengers during the same period of 2022. To respond to this air traffic dynamic, a new terminal is being built at the airport. Rabat-Salé airport providing the capital of the Kingdom with a modern and benchmark infrastructure with a capacity of 4 million passengers per year.
During winter 2023-2024, EasyJet is expanding its offer with new routes connecting Rabat to the cities of Nice, Lyon and Geneva for the first time.
