The release of the new Mortal Kombat game may have to wait a bit longer.
NetherRealm Studios Mortal Kombat director Ed Boon has confirmed that the new NetherRealm Studios game will only be released when the time is right. And it won’t debut at the Mortal Kombat 30th Anniversary Celebration coming soon.
PSA/FYI We know a lot of you are excited regarding the next NRS game announcement & it will happen in due time. But first it all regarding 30 years of Mortal Kombat. That’s what we’re going to celebrate and focus on.

“I understand that you’re excited regarding the new NetherRealm Studios title that will surely be released someday. When the time is right, but first, let’s talk regarding the 30th anniversary of the Mortal Kombat family. We’ll focus on celebrating that family’s birthday first. As for new games, they will be announced separately from the 30th anniversary celebration of MK games.” – Ed Boon said.
Of course, Ed Boon hasn’t revealed a specific schedule as to whether a new Mortal Kombat or a new game from NetherRealm Studios will be released until then.
