Was booed by the audience
Eden Golan was met with boos from sections of the crowd during both crowd ropes ahead of the second semi-final.
Israel’s public-service media company Kan then said in a statement that:
“They didn’t silence her and they won’t silence us.”
When the artist entered the stage during Thursday night’s semi-final, cheers were heard on the television broadcast, but those in the arena could hear clear boos.
Demonstrations in Malmö
At the same time, thousands of people were out on the streets of Malmö and demonstrated against Israel’s participation in Eurovision. Pro-Israel demonstrations also took place at the same time.
The final of the Eurovision song contest 2024 will be broadcast on Saturday 11 May at 21.00 on SVT and on SVT play.
