EDF wins the XXL wind farm off Normandy and crushes its rivals

And the winner is….EDF. After fierce competition, the French electrician and its Canadian partner Maple Power prevailed over five other candidates. They are the ones who will install the largest French offshore wind farm on the market to date. The duo will benefit from a guaranteed electricity purchase price for twenty years to secure their investment.

With a power of one gigawatt – enough to supply electricity to 2 million people – this XXL park for France is to be built off the coast of Normandy. The first French offshore wind farm to be located in an exclusive economic zone, it is to be installed 32 kilometers from the coast and plans to start producing electricity in 2031.
